Morris County Commissioner Deborah Smith, along with Mayor James Dodd and other officials, gathered in Dover to dedicate West Chrystal Street in honor of Aldo Cicchetti. Cicchetti, a former mayor and lifelong resident of the town, was recognized for his extensive service to the community.
The dedication ceremony featured the unveiling of a street sign labeled “Mayor Cicchetti Place” at the intersection of West Chrystal Street and Morris Street. This location holds personal significance as it is where Cicchetti grew up and lived for 87 years.
Commissioner Smith remarked on Cicchetti’s contributions: “It’s a privilege to honor someone who has given so much to Dover and Morris County. Aldo’s dedication to community service has shaped the township in countless ways.” She also presented a framed resolution from the Morris County Board of Commissioners to Cicchetti’s family.
Cicchetti’s children shared memories of their father’s achievements during the event. Mayor Dodd praised Cicchetti’s leadership, stating: “Aldo’s leadership was defined not by the milestones of projects that marked his time in office but the unwavering commitment he had to the people of Dover.”
The ceremony included appearances by Assemblyman Christian Barranco, State Sen. Anthony Bucco, Assemblywoman Aura Dunn, Chris Williams representing U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, and Randolph Councilmember Lou Nisivoccia.
Cicchetti began his public service career in 1974 as 3rd Ward Alderman and later served as mayor from 1982 to 1992. He was known for operating the Dover Corner Market for over three decades while actively engaging with residents.
Even after retiring from public office, Cicchetti continued his community involvement as an assistant meat manager at Kings Supermarket and currently serves on the Dover Water Commission.
