The Morris County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff James M. Gannon, has issued a reminder to the public about fireworks safety as Independence Day approaches. The office emphasizes the importance of celebrating responsibly and adhering to safety guidelines when handling fireworks.

Sheriff Gannon stated, “Happy 4th of July! Celebrate responsibly this Independence Day by following safety guidelines when handling fireworks.”

In addition to general safety tips, the Sheriff’s Office outlines what constitutes legal consumer fireworks and illegal consumer fireworks. It also provides information on commercial-grade fireworks and steps to take if an unexploded firework is encountered.

For any technical assistance related to fireworks incidents, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad is available around the clock. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious items or seek more information by contacting the Morris County Communications Center at 973-285-2900.
