The Morris County Board of County Commissioners has recognized Mary Holland, Principal Systems Analyst for the Morris County Department of Information Technology, on her retirement after 44 years of service. Holland's career began on October 14, 1980, as a Data Processing Programmer. She advanced through various roles, eventually becoming Principal Systems Analyst in 2019.
County Administrator Deena Leary visited the IT Department to present Holland with a framed Resolution of Honor. The recognition was given ahead of her official retirement date on November 30, 2024.
Holland played a significant role in the county's technological advancements. Her work included transitioning from punched-card programming to modern cloud-based systems and developing over 30 critical applications. She also managed key systems such as deeds and mortgages, payroll, and Affordable Care Act compliance.
A notable achievement was her leadership in resolving Y2K database challenges and providing long-term support for the county’s payroll system through multiple updates. Her contributions have been crucial in maintaining reliable and efficient technological infrastructure for the county.
Mary Holland is appreciated not only for her technical expertise but also for her warmth and dedication to customer service. Her colleagues remember her humor, homemade baked goods, and softball scorekeeping skills. Morris County extends its gratitude to Mary Holland for over four decades of dedicated service and wishes her well in retirement.
