Morris County has introduced a new logo to commemorate America's 250th anniversary, highlighting the county's significant role in the American Revolution. The Morris County Tourism Bureau, the Morris County Board of County Commissioners, and the Morris County 250th Anniversary Steering Committee collaborated on this initiative.

The logo was designed by Kraus Marketing of Morristown with input from the steering committee. It features colors from the official Morris County seal and a silhouette of Gen. George Washington and his horse. The design includes the phrase “Celebrating 250 Years of Revolutionary History in Morris County” and will be used on various marketing materials for upcoming events.

“This logo is more than just an emblem-- it embodies the influence Morris County had on our nation’s path to freedom. The 250th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate our county’s past, and we invite everyone to visit and experience the unique history that helped shape America’s founding,” said Commissioner Christine Myers.

The steering committee was formed last year to prepare for celebratory events leading up to 2026. It includes leaders from historical societies, educational institutions, museums, libraries, business associations, tourist organizations, civic groups, scholars, and government officials. Their aim is to promote both Morris County's historic role in the American Revolution and its diverse community's contributions.

During the Revolutionary War, Gen. George Washington spent considerable time in Morris County. Morristown served as a strategic winter encampment site during harsh winters that tested troop resilience due to extreme cold and food shortages. Washington also stayed at Ford Mansion in Morristown, which has recently reopened after renovations.

“This logo embodies the rich history and heritage of Morris County," said Sarah Neibart, Executive Director of the Morris County Semiquincentennial Initiative at the Tourism Bureau.

Upcoming events include Pathways of History tours organized by the Morris County Historical Society and Morristown National Historical Park’s Spring Encampment at Jockey Hollow. These events are free and open to all visitors interested in exploring historical sites across municipalities or experiencing re-enactments of Revolutionary War life.
