Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll was granted the title of Honorary Chief by the Morris County Police Chiefs Association on December 13, 2022 at an installation event held at the Park Savoy Estate in Florham Park.

The MCPCA luncheon also honored Chief Jeffrey Almer of the Washington Township Police Department, who served as President in 2022.

Chief Ross Johnson of the Mendham Township Police was installed as the 2023 President.

Prosecutor Carroll said, “Chief Almer, Chief’s Association Executive Board and membership, I am deeply honored, appreciative, and humbled to receive this fine honor. Since we have been working together, I can say that it has been a most rewarding and productive experience to have served with such dedicated law enforcement leaders.

I joined the Prosecutor’s Office at a time unique in my lifetime and indeed the nation’s history -unprecedented political strife, elevated racial tensions, the profound impact of social media, elevated community and law enforcement tensions, new laws and directives in our reformed criminal justice system, and of course, Covid, which still affects all of us in ways no one could have imagined. In response, law enforcement solidified and forged a unique, and dare I say powerful, law enforcement alliance consisting of our Prosecutor’s Office, Jim Gannon’s Sheriff’s Office, our 37 individual police departments, State Police, Attorney General’s Office, our federal colleagues, and our county public safety management team, and our county leadership, all of whom work together to protect and serve our communities every hour of every day.

I am pleased to say that with this alliance, we are succeeding in meeting and overcoming all that has been put before us. And I especially note ‘us’ is the key, as the reality is that the honor of this award today must be shared with my dedicated colleagues in the Prosecutor's Office, Sheriff James Gannon's office and with every police chief with whom I work. Without our collective team leadership effort, I couldn't be the recipient of this most prestigious award.”I am pleased to say that with this alliance, we are succeeding in meeting and overcoming all that has been put before us.
