***Anyone who is familiar with Seward Johnson’s work will recognize his monumental Marilyn Monroe statue that is proving to be as divisive in Florida as it was in Hamilton NJ. Morris County residents better know this NJ sculptor’s work by the life sized statue of Morris Frank and Buddy, the seeing-eye dog that inhabit an island off the Morristown Green. All proving that public art can be well thought out (in the case of Morristown) or bit too provocative for everyone’s taste***

There is text overlaid on the image that says: ARTnews: 26-Foot Marilyn Monroe Statue Still Causing a Stir Among the Palm Springs Elite. The so-called provocative nature of the sculpture, specifically the dress and the fact that Marilyn’s unmentionables are visible depending on the angle, is what has infuriated the residents.” #morriscountyartists
