The Morris County Board of County Commissioners has officially recognized October 2024 as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month." During a public meeting held in Morristown, the board presented a framed proclamation to Diane Williams, President and CEO of JBWS.

Commissioner Director Christine Myers highlighted the significance of this observance by stating, "One in four women and one in nine men will experience domestic violence, and about 10 percent of children are exposed to it annually. These children suffer trauma that can last a lifetime." She added, "Recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month is vital to ensuring the safety of our families and children."

JBWS was founded in 1976 and has since developed into a comprehensive nonprofit organization offering support for survivors of abuse. In 2023 alone, the organization managed approximately 4,685 helpline calls, provided legal advocacy to 1,143 individuals, and executed 940 Crisis Response Team interventions at police stations and hospitals.

In collaboration with local agencies, JBWS established the Morris Family Justice Center in 2016. Situated within the county's Administration and Records Building, this center serves as a centralized location where survivors can access various services including counseling, legal assistance, immigration help, child services, among others. The center is one of only two such facilities in New Jersey recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as a best practice model.

The number of adults and children receiving comprehensive services at the Morris Family Justice Center increased from 470 in 2022 to 599 in 2023.

Victims or survivors seeking support can reach out via a 24-Hour Helpline & Referral at 1.877.R.U.ABUSED or 1.877.782.2873. The National Domestic Violence Hotline also provides options for chat or text with an advocate through their website or by texting LOVEIS to 22522. Additional information about the Morris Family Justice Center is available at morrisfjc.org.
