The Morris County Board of County Commissioners has announced that Stephanie Gorman, a health officer in Morris County’s Division of Public Health, has been appointed as the president of the New Jersey Association of County and City Health Officials (NJACCHO). The swearing-in ceremony took place at the New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City.

During the NJACCHO General Membership Meeting held at the Atlantic City Convention Center, Morris County Commissioner Douglas Cabana administered the oath of office. "It was an honor to swear in Stephanie Gorman as president of NJACCHO," stated Commissioner Cabana. "Her leadership at both the county and state levels exemplifies Morris County’s dedication to public health and advancing critical health initiatives statewide."

NJACCHO represents public health leaders from 104 local health departments across New Jersey's 21 counties and 565 municipalities. The organization has been committed to improving community health for over 113 years by promoting wellness, preventing disease, and protecting residents and visitors.

"As president, I aim to strengthen NJACCHO’s leadership, engage our members more deeply, and ensure the long-term stability of our executive team," said Gorman. She emphasized her commitment to managing federal grants and modernizing public health systems across New Jersey.

Gorman brings over 17 years of experience in public health to her new role. Her career began as a registered environmental health specialist in Pequannock Township before she joined Morris County in 2014. In her current position as a county health officer, she oversees environmental health programs and public health grant initiatives aimed at workforce development. She holds a Master of Public Health degree along with certifications as a registered environmental health specialist and certified public manager.

"Stephanie’s dedication and leadership have made a significant impact on our local and state health systems," said Carlos Perez, chief Health Officer in Morris County Division of Public Health. He noted that her appointment is a testament to her ability to break barriers and recognition of her achievements.

Since joining NJACCHO in 2014, Gorman has served on its board since 2018. As president, she plans to focus on increasing member engagement and ensuring executive team stability according to NJACCHO’s strategic plan. She is dedicated to modernizing the public health system and securing grant funding for local departments throughout New Jersey.

"NJACCHO’s achievements are the result of collaboration and innovation," said Gorman. "With a dedicated volunteer board and support from our executive director, Linda Brown, we will continue to ensure projects enhance public health operations for years to come."
