The Morris County Board of County Commissioners has approved over $3.8 million in Grant-in-Aid (GIA) funding for the year 2025. This allocation is intended to support 76 programs related to human services, as recommended by volunteer advisory committees to the county's Department of Human Services.

The Board provides these annual grants to support essential services for residents while also enhancing or expanding existing human services programs. These include Chapter 51 funding for substance use, New Jersey State Community Partnership funds for youth assistance, and Social Services for the Homeless grants.

"The Board of County Commissioners is proud to allocate $3.8 million to support 76 critical human services programs, ensuring resources reach seniors, individuals with disabilities, our youth, and those facing homelessness. This funding reflects our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Morris County residents," said Commissioner Director Christine Myers.

Grant proposals were reviewed by several county advisory councils: the Advisory Council on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans (ACADV), Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC), Mental Health Addiction Services Advisory Board (MHASAB), and Youth Services Advisory Committee (YSAC).

Some services previously available only through Federal Area Plan Grants are now accessible through GIA funding to adults with disabilities under 60 years old. These include case management, information referral, housekeeping services, minor home repairs, caregiver respite via childcare, in-home mental health access, home health aides, and visiting nurses.

Additionally, GIA funding supports unique community programs such as recreation and socialization services and job training programs for adults with disabilities.

The advisory committees appointed by the Board play a crucial role in advising on service priorities and reviewing funding proposals. They ensure that funded programs meet community needs effectively.
