The Morris County Board of County Commissioners has called upon the federal government to utilize all available resources, including military assistance, to address unauthorized drone flights over New Jersey. The board emphasizes that this issue is a matter of national security and insists on transparency regarding the situation.
"We believe this to be a matter of national security, and as such our federal government has a duty to the people of New Jersey and the rest of the nation to identify the source of this incursion," stated the commissioners. They demand an end to these drones, which have caused alarm within communities, and urge for protective measures for airspace.
Morris County has been actively deploying resources since drones were first observed. Local agencies such as the Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Law & Public Safety are working continuously with residents and law enforcement. Collaborations with local police chiefs, State Police, New Jersey Department of Homeland Security & Preparedness, and the FBI aim to resolve this situation.
"It is amply clear...that only the federal government...has the authority to clear our skies of this mounting threat to our public safety," stated officials. They argue that FAA regulations limit local law enforcement's ability to respond effectively.
The commissioners call for immediate action from federal authorities: "We need action now. Our residents deserve nothing less. America deserves nothing less."
