The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) is urging residents to focus on reducing, reusing, and recycling during the holiday season. This initiative aims to decrease the volume of waste directed to landfills at one of the busiest times of the year.

Residents are encouraged to make informed choices about recycling and waste reduction. To find out which materials are accepted in their local recycling programs, individuals can check their municipal websites, visit MCMUA.com, or download the Recycle Coach app.

The MUA has outlined curbside recycling guidelines for residents. A variety of paper products and containers can be recycled if they are empty, clean, and dry. Residents should consult their local programs for additional recyclable items like aluminum trays, plastics coded 5, and aseptic cartons such as eggnog or milk cartons. It is advised that plastic caps be removed before recycling.

Certain holiday items are not suitable for curbside recycling bins. Additionally, some materials require special disposal methods to prevent hazards.

For further information on recycling guidelines and tips to reduce holiday waste, residents can visit MCMUA.com or reach out to their local recycling coordinator.
